Solo & Ensemble Competition

Please note: this isn't dubstep, death metal, rock, or hip-hop music. If you can't stand classical/hymnal-style music, this isn't for you. ;P

My senior year of high school is nearing its end and graduation is literally around the corner. I recently competed in a solo & ensemble competition and made it to the State Competition for a few things. This one, a quartet, is my favorite. I'm on the far left, singing high tenor. We've obviously got work to do before the State Competition but it's a tough piece to memorize. Not sure if anyone's into this kind of thing, but hey, music is music. :)

The arrangement and vocal blend are beautiful.  Keep it up!

Side note:  Last year, my symphonic chorus group sang Eric Whitacre's arrangement of "A Boy and a Girl".

Is this a university-based chorus group or community?

I'm also not into hymns or religion...

But if you love singing and music is your passion, pursue it. Countless people will tell you to pack up your shit and focus on 'real-world' careers, but those are a knife-fight to get these days, so you might as well try your hand at the entertainment industry first.

Good for you for having the balls to post this here.

It's a community group funded by a grant from the local symphony orchestra.  Two weekends ago, we did Johannes Brahms' "Ein Deutsches Requiem."

I'd love to see that, is there a vid for it too? And you sang it in German? Sounds awesome.

One of my best and last memories of my father was to go see the Met Chorus in New York the Christmas before he died.  I can't listen to Bethoven's 9th to this day with a dry eye.

The orchestra maestro's policy is "original language."  One native German-speaker who attended the concert described our German as "very understandable."

I'm on the far left, not the far right. Although the one on the far right also plays (Evinyr).
