Hello there. Its been a while since we've spoken. When that happened, the community as a whole was reeling from overzealous, unaccountable, invisible moderation. The need was for a space where the community could decide what standards it could have for a place where you could speak your mind without worrying about over strict rules, but also be a place where diverse people would feel safe. I think that these things mean different things to different people so what's saucy for the Rasek may not be sauce for the Zajiwa, if you get my drift.

One of the things that we've been consistent about, however, is warnings from moderators to people on the forums. When warned, does the person cease that particular behaviour? If yes, then in every case that I can remember, any punishment is lifted and no more is said about it.

Examples include, yourself, Ayllin, Heltor, Rethospix, Penumbrae (I think, can't be sure, it was a long time ago). And of course Bloodysoul.

Bloodysoul is in a class of his own. He's intelligent. Articulate. But also really despicable. As in, I despise him and have for several years. Years. He takes delight in antagonising those less articulate or smart or in a vulnerable position. And he goes on and on and on about it, never listening to the howls of criticism from those around him.

When we started the forums, we never imagined they would grow to this extent, that the community, past and present, would take to them (to greater and lesser degree). And to put it mildly, we didn't build the rules to be Bloodysoul-proof. (Some would say I'm feeding his ego but my response would be, I really don't care a damn and never have.) But as adept at Bloodysoul is at sociopathy, he carries within himself the seeds of his own downfall. There was a whole discussion about Bloodysoul which went something like, "I mean, yeah, anyone can register but fuck... BLOODYSOUL?!" and in the end, he joined because none of the moderators or forum staff wanted to take a strong stand and BAN him before he had even said a thing. I knew, however, that things would come to this because he just. cannot. resist. flaming. out.

And re: Therm. I wasn't aware of his past transgression regarding RL info but if he didn't repeat it (and perhaps apologised) then I'd say that its okay. And hey, I'm no Therm fanboi and he (I think) hates me and has for quite a while so yeah.

So where are we today? Is Emerald Drama a success? Well, its not perfect. But it's good enough, in my book. Some would want less moderation, others more moderation, yet others more community voting on punishments, yet others, no community voting on violations. *shrug* its alright. I'm glad to come here, off and on and I'm happy to report that the official forums have slipped off my Chrome most-visited-sites tabs.

Just a parting brick in this wall of text: We have a forum where, to get banned, you need to CONSISTENTLY pull the  shit BS did, disregarding multiple warnings. That's not so bad, is it?
