Every time i RP on my top secret Alliance spy toon, i have good experiences with any and all <House Blackstone> members i meet.

While i enjoy Drama, you shouldn't pass judgments upon a guild based on the personal views of a single member.

Sanity is all in the eye of the beholder.

Not at all, but, her earlier shit storm is not part of this topic.

You want to bring up her past crimes, make a thread about that, and i'll gladly join in, but, this isn't the thread for that.

EDIT: Everyone deserves to suffer for past mistakes, but, there is a time and place for suffering, and, this thread isn't really it.

EDITx2: meant thread, not post.

Note: I didn't read shit but the OP.

If a person is a member of your guild they are there because you put them there or allow them there. You've formed an association of your own volition. You vouch for them, basically.

If someone who you (whoever you may be) vouch for shows up on some faggot this nigger that ignorant ass bullshit I feel it is entirely appropriate for someone to be like "Hey, get a handle on your boy."

See, because this person represents you. If you're like, ok, my man wants to be on some ignorant ass bullshit let him do him I'm less likely to want to be around you.

As for the bit about ED being a US server and folks being free to have their dumbass opinions, I don't think that concept means what you think it means. The bill of rights are our protection from our own government, not free license to act a fucking ass because IM AN AMERICAN AN I GOT THE FIRST AMENDMENT!

It is fully appropriate to tell someone they shouldn't have their dumb fuck opinions when their opinions are fucking dumb. If anything, it is your duty as a person of conviction, assuming you are such a person, to not abide positions you find distasteful. Through discourse ideally, through disassociation otherwise.

Well said!  Freedom of association joins freedom of speech in our bill of rights and both should be wielded with responsibility.  That being said,  she can hardly rein in someone who no longer plays the game.  She, however, may actually respect other's right to their own opinion and the right to express it.  Ignorance and hate are not automatic death sentences as much as you liberals would like them to be.  Go watch some Fox news and educate yourself.

Something you may have overlooked, Mick. Maybe you missed that these people are not allowed to talk this way in guild. And as I said, this is a community board. I could go through a hell of a lot of threads here, and quote people using certain variations of "hate words."

Whoever wrote them could claim, "I was joking. Everyone knows that." Or in the case of the troll, they could say "I was trolling."

The point is: I can't read people's minds. This board is basically a place where people talk about all kinds of stuff, not just about the game. They just happen to play the game (or used to) and come to this board to basically voice their opinions (and by the rules, obviously moderators don't care what those opinions are, and barring something super over the top, like, revealing someone's personal private information, anything goes,) hoping that someone, somewhere, will actually give a flying fuck what they're saying.

Crap, half the time I don't even come here. It's not how I prefer to spend my time. But since I am here, and I bothered to answer the "concerns" of the person that came to me with them,  I basically spelled out what our policy is. You may not agree with it, but it's your right to not agree with it. All you have to do is not join my guild. :) It's as simple as that. And if you wanna send me an ingame mail because someone from my guild decided to post an opinion you define as a "dumb fuck" opinion, then please, refer to my original post about the matter.

I have opinions on a lot of things. Perhaps if you talked to me you would find some of them "dumb fuck" in your opinion. But that's just it. It's your opinion, and you're entitled to it.

I have considered the thought about it reflecting on our guild. If anything, I hope people see that House Blackstone is full of all kinds of respectful people; people you may or may not agree with, but have their own individual opinion about things from their own experiences. A "diverse" guild with lots of different opinions that people hold, but are still able to play the game together regardless of the "dumb fuck" opinions they decide to share on a message board (or not). People are comfortable and not all uptight when they're playing the game because they don't have to worry about being disrespected, and know that disrespect towards people in the guild while they're playing the game will get them kicked out, not something they say on a message board where everything goes.

If you don't like what someone says on a general discussion board, don't read it.

TLDR Version:

Where you say something is MUCH more important than what you say.

If you're a hate mongering Nazi extremist, THAT'S OK, as long as you spread your filth on an unmonitored forum, and not our OOC channel.  I will gladly associate with Nazis as long as you contain your hate outside of official channels.

People joke about death all the time in here. Joking about someone getting hit by a truck is as bad as the hate speech to a particular group.

Can someone tell me what a matze ball tastes like?  Seriously, where the fuck is Yam

Matzah balls (Yiddish: קניידלעך kneydlekh pl., singular קניידל kneydl; also kneydls) are an Ashkenazi Jewish soup dumpling made from a mixture of matzah meal, eggs, water and oil. Matzah balls are traditionally served in chicken soup. They are a staple food on Passover.
Schmaltz (chicken fat) imparts a distinctive flavor, but modern cooks now prefer vegetable oils or margarine.[1]The balls are dropped into a pot of salted boiling water or chicken soup. Keeping one's hands wet is vital when handling the sticky balls. The balls swell during the boiling time of approximately 20 minutes.
The texture of matzah balls may be light or dense, depending on the recipe and the skill of the cook. Matzah balls enthusiasts classify them as 'floaters' or 'sinkers'.

wishing death to someone is a type of hate speech.

You are comparing hate based on one person for crimes done, to hate based on a people for nothing done.

Not the same, and you are stupid for trying.

If i wish death upon a person, you better believe i have my reasons, but if i hated a people and wished death upon them based off of sexual orientation, or color of the skin etc, then, you can bet, there is no logical reason for that hate, and, i should be ashamed.

I did not overlook it. I read that shit exact.

Quote
and know that disrespect towards people in the guild while they're playing the game will get them kicked out, not something they say on a message board where everything goes.

Being down with someone who is polite in the environments that you specify they have to be but on some bullshit elsewhere is not you crafting a diverse environment full of varied opinions that manage to live in harmony for the love of the RP, its just you not caring about the kind of people you associate with so long as you get the result you desire.

Just because you CAN say anything does not mean you should say. And while your friends and associates CAN say anything, if they say certain things you should probably say something to them, or fuck you right along with them.

The only trolls who never drop character on these forums that I've noticed are Djinn and hasmuffins, and that's because they are completely disengaged from the conversation and every post is a troll. If you're following along semi-regularly, its not that hard to get at least a vague feel for who people are even when they think they're otherwise trolling, because there are some subjects that they do care about.

Ignorance and hate are not automatic death sentences as much as you liberals would like them to be.  Go watch some Fox news and educate yourself.

The only weapon I wield is my own presence and my own words. Ignorance is met with discussion, hate with absence.

My hope is that, eventually, we'll talk most out of ignorance and leave the hateful standing alone.

Really, when you boil it down to the nuts and bolts, her position is ridiculous imo.
