Nerds and their collections...

-=Since there are a handful of other similar topics, let's discuss and share our various collections of things (please keep it SFW).=-

As it should be no surprise, I'm a vidya enthusiast notably of the Nintendo kind so what I'll be sharing is obvious. A good handful of these games I've had for years (some since their respective releases) while others I've acquired within the last 6 months or more. Hard to collect when you're a kid and you get a pittance from your parents, but having the means now gives me little excuse not to claim (or reclaim in some cases) the games I'd played through rentals or that were sold/traded away. Thus my puny collection so far: http://imgur.com/a/94DFl#0.

Probably the most annoying game for me to recover will be Earthbound since even the SNES cart alone fetches a ridiculously high price on ebay, let alone getting one complete with the original XBOXHEUG box and the strategy guide that was also contained within; seen a pristine, unopened one go for well over $2000 on ebay. Still have a good handful of other games I'm after, but most are somewhat on a whim since I'm not interested in collecting every single known NES, SNES, N64, etc. game in existence. That and it's very, very expensive to do so and I'm trying to get what I can by whatever frugal means as possible.

I now turn this over to fellow collectors and enthusiasts of whatever it maybe.

I've been collecting katanas the past few years (mostly just replicas/unsharpened blades) that you buy at sword shops. But other than that I have a small collection of Japanese stuff.

I'll get pictures up when I can, but most of it is in storage.

My collection of video games was much larger until my brother decided to pawn a lot of them.  I did manage to get Gunstar Heroes back, but I don't know where my Genesis is, and you know the pain I'm going through upon finding my gold OoT is now grey.

Let's see, I like to keep every book I buy just in case, but I recently had to get rid of some to make ~*space*~ for moving, so I'll have to go back and buy a bunch after that.

Ooh, I collect zelda things.  Stuff that I doubt anyone cares about, but they're important to me, like em.  I have a copy of Game Informer that came out before MM did, with all the art and deets about the game and stuff, and I have an untranslated copy of the MM manga that my sister gave me.  I'm giving them both to Phyrexial though.  TIME TO RESTART.

I collect, or used to, TCGs. Now not so much, but when I was little nothing made me happier than rectangular pieces of cardboard. I never threw away any of it, so I still have it all. I have TCGs of Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball Z, Magic the Gathering, Magi Nation, Cardcaptor Sakura, Yugi Oh, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Neopets, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and World of Warcraft.

My cumulative collection of the above is enormous. Now I still get Pokemon cards as gifts from relatives and friends, and I buy World of Warcraft cards for the occasional gamble.

everything-I even bought a DS and gameboy to play the gameboy only version---Man, I have my stuff packed and sealed somewhere but I freaking loved the minich cap for gameboy.

BUT

I did lie, I never bought skyward sword yet. I kinda outgrew my zelda fetish after playing twilight princess. I get tired of fucking rescuing the same bitch every single time.

I collect quite a bit, especially figurines/toys for series I like. I have a ton of Aliens figures and a bunch of random anime stuff. I also collect specific manga series, and I absolutely love the Dragon Warrior/Quest series. I collect those and I have all the Final Fantasy stuff up to FF8. Umm.. oh, I have all of the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. As in first editions and all the shit. >.> I'm weird.

Are those even considered legit? Funny how the developers made zelda be the hero, instead of the stranded, kidnapped wench.

Nintendo would like to forget their existence. They're part of deal with Phillips when they made the CD-i after the breakup with Sony of the SNES CD (because Sony wanted full rights/control of anything released for the add-on); there are 5 CD-i games that Phillips made using Nintendo properties.

They are non-canon, by the way.

I collect books. Lots of them. Out-of-print classics, first editions ($$$$), autographed ones, etc. All that in addition to the huge collection I've read.

I have a small collection of old (75 years +) dictionaries and other books related to English usage. I like words, and find I can use them better if I know where they've been.

Oh man, I bet those are fun.

I used to collect used books, but I began to outpace what I could read or fit on shelves by a pretty wide margin so I cut back. These days I've mostly embraced digital and buy far fewer hardbacks. Used to be I couldn't pass a used bookstore or thrift store without poking in to see if it had something worthwhile. My white whale was a hardbound copy of Blood Meridian, I only ever found one.
